Is while required over here?

I was wondering whether including 'while' will change the meaning of the sentence.

Australian shares fell for the third straight session on Wednesday as energy stocks led the market lower and investors remained cautious (while) heading into company reporting season.

(I was reading the above line in a leading newspaper. )

Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for your advice.

Can you please explain why would it be non-native if 'while' is included. Are there any special rules surrounding the use of 'while'.

Rahul Shahremained cautious (while) heading into the company reporting season.
Another paraphrase is

remained cautious as the reporting season began.

The world of the stock market was heading into the reporting season, not the investors, so 'while' doesn't work well. With 'while' you have something
