is vs for

I got the sentence below from a internet site for my back country folks.

Asked in 1960 to name the most powerful magazine covering is presidential campaign, John Kennedy picked Time.

Is this sentence right? Shouln't 'is' after convering be 'for'? It seems tom a typo, but I can not be sure.

Many thanks in advance!
