Hello

Sometimes I read sentences like:

The seventh vowel appearing in this sentence...

Compund Sentences are sentences containing two or more clauses...

Look at bold words, how were they added "-ing" without "be verb"?

Shouldn't they be?

The seventh vowel is appearing...

Compund Sentences are sentences are containing...

Sometimes I read sentences like:

The seventh vowel appearing in this sentence...

The word 'appearing' in the sentence means 'which appears'. We cannot say 'The seventh vowel is appearing...' because if we substitute 'which appears', the sentence will read 'The seventh vowel is which apear...'
