Is 'traffic' only for cars?

Is 'traffic' used on when talking about cars?
How would you say:
Example:

I would like to live on a street with not a lot of people traffic. [a lot of people walk down the street] = calm street.

There isn't a lot of traffic at night at the hotel. [not a lot of people coming and going]
