Is "today" in a command a time connective?

Hello,

Does anyone know if in a command like "Buy this tomato today!" Is the word "today" also functioning as a time connective?

It seems like one if a time connective tells when something is happening but I'm not sure in this context, because it doesn't seem to be linking to anything else, so is it still a connective?

Or is it linking "buy this tomato" and the when, "today"?

Thank you

I know the term "conjunctions of time" (before, after, as, when, while, until, since) but "a time connective" is a novelty to me.
