Yes, grammatically fine, but dated in its vocabulary choice, unless you are writing a fairy tale. Few would say 'wed' nowadays:

The king gave this poor man his daughter to marry.

I was thinking it uncommon to say someone "gave" their daughter (outside of talking about the ceremony).

It would be more modern to say "The king gave his blessing to this poor man to marry his daughter."

You'll occasionally see 'wed' as a verb in newspaper headlines, as in HARRY TO WED POP STAR, but I doubt if you will ever encounter it elsewhere today.
