Is this worded correctly?

Is this worded correctly and should I add the "s" to "demand"? Even the celestial beings of the Upper Planes, formidable as they were, would have faced destruction at the hands of the demons or the devils, weighed down by their alignments’ demand(s) for goodness and justice.
