Is this the correct way of ordering for something?

If one is having a formal dinner at a restaurant and if the other person orders something, Is it okay to say, "Whatever he/she is ordering, make it for two", if one also wants to have the same?

I would simply say 'I'll have the same.'

But I would always, always add 'please'.

Yes. Informally I'd just say, "Make that two".
