Is this sentence worded properly?

Steel’s true mother was Kitiara Uth Matar, the infamous Dragon Highlord, and he was unaware and had no desire to inquire into his father’s identity, who was in fact the great Solamnic Knight hero Sturm Brightblade.

Aha! Then, to avoid confusion as I had, go with "...twenties, and he was unaware..."

Shouldn't I not have the "and" after "twenties," because I'm referring to Steel's father, Sturm?
