Is this sentence using ‘some’ ‘adjust,’ ‘extend the date,’ and ‘others’ correct?

Some of the students might ask their teachers to adjust or extend the date for the submission of the projects, even though they have already been given sufficient time to work on those (projects). Others merely choose not to submit anything at all.
