Is this sentence right?

I've read the following sentence:

“So you want to go faster, do you?” Ashling asked.

Doesn't it have to be like this:

“So you want to go faster, don't you?” Ashling asked.

I've learned, if the sentence is positive and you want to assure yourself, the following must be negative.

No. You can do an affirmative sentence with an affirmative tag, but that means you are conveying a different emotion. It means you are setting a challenge.
