Is this sentence right?

The Spring Festival came into being as a result of welcome celebration of the season of renewal and vitality, observed by Han Chinese on Lunar New Year and dates back to about 3,000 years ago.

Is this sentence right? Especially tenses. Thank you.

This has a lot of information jammed into it. I would either split this into two sentences or rework it so that it flows a little better. For example: The Spring Festival dates back 3,000 years to the time of the Han Chinese.
