Is this sentence right?

Question

I just want use" 'what is your favorite sports?' Imagining being asked this question " as the opening of the essay.

I know that "Imagining being asked this question, what is your answer" is wrong, because the subject of this sentence should be "you", rather than "your answer", right?

so ,I modify the openning sentence as" 'what is your favorite sports?' Imagining being asked this question, what would you choose ". I wonder to know if this sentence right?

What is your favorite sport? (If you want one answer.)
"Imagining" is not correct. It is not a complete verb. The correct form is
Imagine being asked this question. What would you choose? (Do not use a comma to join two sentences.)

I think it would depend on how formal your teacher wants you to be. The format is quite common, but I'm not sure of the formally correct way to set off the starting question.

There are three sentences:

"What is your favorite sport?" OR "What are your favorite sports?"

Imagine being asked this question[ ! ] . Yes, this is an imperative sentence, and the [understood] subject is "you." I don't see how this adversely effects your choices in framing the next question:

What would you choose? OR What would your answer be? Either option requires "would," because of the word "imagine." I think both options are equally correct. I believe in the first option the subject is "answer," and in the second option the subject is "you," as you suggest. I see no problem with either solution.

I'd urge you not to attempt to combine the second and third sentences.

Edit. Sorry, I'm not awake yet. I never noticed the present participle. I see no problem with that construction, followed by either option. Being in a hurry, what would you choose? Being in a hurry, what would your choice be? Thinking ahead, what would you do?

Okay, now I see it. You're absolutely right, Helen. Only the other option is correct, for the reason you originally suggested. The question is not capable of imagining.

As a participial phrase functioning as an adjective, "Imagining being asked that question" can only modify "you." (for contextual reasons)

Imagining being asked that question, what would you choose? I'll say it's correct - but rather ugly!

I think using the quesion in the beginning would be different from others, I mean it would give the readers a fresh feeling. I do not realize it is informal way.(I want to use this sentence in the essay of TOEFL test ). Do you think it is not appropriate?

The start part of the essay is very important, and I want to find a format of wonderful sentence.

I once read an article with the begining "Imagine being asked to spend 3 years with ***, how would you react?" so , I want to write my essay in the similar way.

You know , most topics of essays in TOEFL test are alternative, Like"Reading books or your exprience is more important","university or factory in your neighborhood is a better choice".....

So ,I want to find a format to start my essay.

Sorry,I knew that delay.

But when I try to regiest, there is always a survey preventing me from loging on. I tried to fill out the inquiry forms including 4 questions many times, but I got the same result: still could not regist.

Maybe there is something wrong now, I will try later.
