Is this sentence OK?

"We are all experiencing a lot of pain seeing the horrendous situation your people is going through right now."

I think the first part sounds stilted. Can you help me find a more suitable and natural expression?

Thank you! But I was referring ro the people of 1 country collectively, e.g. the people of Ukraine. Should it still be "are"?
