Is this sentence natural in spoken English?

The teacher was reproaching student in front of class.

I told my friend "She said our paperwork are tawdry. Bad design (the paperwork was about drawing and colouring a mind-mapping)"


(It's peculiar that there is still this kind of childish-nursery assignment in a secondary school)
