I always enjoy it when two native speakers have different opinions. It's not that one is right and the other is wrong. It's just that there is almost always more than one way to say the same thing and what is natural to one person is not necessarily natural to another.

Nah. It makes it sound like you entered the room in consequence of having opened the door, and that is not what you mean, or that you entered the room while opening the door, which is absurd. You opened the door and entered the room. Let the language do its job, and trust the left-to-right time

Lovely. Note that this structure is completely correct, but it is rather literary. Use it in your novel, not in your daily conversation.
