Is this sentence grammatically correct? It sounds horrible to me
I just watched "Clerks 2" and have been arguing with a friend ever since. A sign in the movie says "We assure you we are re-open." I don't believe you can "re" a state of being, if that makes sense. I said the sign would be correct if it said "we are reopening" or "we have reopened."
Can anyone shed light on whether the original sentence is right or wrong, and why?
Thanks!
