Is this sentence grammatically correct?

"I would like to formally thank you for meeting with me this past Friday to discuss the Staff Attorney position and my qualifications thereof."

I'm particularly curious about the usage of "thereof."

Thanks in advance!

It is completely unnecessary.

I would like to thank you formally for meeting with me this past Friday to discuss the Staff Attorney position and my qualifications.

I appreciate your response.

Is there any particular reason "formally" should go after "thank you" instead of before it? Or is it merely a matter of preference?

It's to avoid splitting the infinitive when it sounds a bit awkward anyway.
