Is this sentence grammatically correct?

Hi everyone?
Could you please tell me whether this sentence correct or not?

I had taught hundreds of students but i never met such a hopeless class as this.

This is correct English, but why have you chosen to use Past Perfect?

Hi,

You would use past perfect if you are done teaching and if you, for example, tell somebody that you had taught hundreds of students (before you had this class) but you (had) never met such a hopeless class as this. (in your 'teaching carrier')
So it kind of means that you are not teaching them anymore.

If you are keep on teaching, but this class you are teaching now is
