Is this sentence grammatically correct?

Hi, I really appreciate the fact that I can just come here and start question; so thank you!

This is the sentence: "Ideologies should not remain fixed against evidence."

Said in the context where evidence that ideologies should be changing exists and that it is bad not to change them.

Also, is this an easily understood sentence?
