Is this sentence grammatical?

They have shaped an influence my life and hobbies. Is this sentence grammatical? Wouldn't it be more grammatical if it were They have shaped an influence on my life and hobbies.


However, this native speaker said something not grammatical?

This is what makes English hard for ESL learners. The two ds are not pronounced at all.

In fact both d's are faintly pronounced, but I can imagine it might be pretty hard for a non-native speaker to detect this.

Many native speakers are quite casual about pronouncing Ds on the ends of words. Where I live (SE USA) dropping Ds is so common that many people don't realize certain words are supposed to have a D on the end. These are common in writing here:

Are we suppose to...
Old fashion...
I can understand the first two, since there is a T immediately after t
