Is this sentence gramatically correct??

As the grew up together, their friendship was growing too.

[ I have substituted 'while' for 'as', because 'as' can mean 'because', and I don't think that's what you want. So this is less confusing. ] You might want to consider phrasing this without two uses of 'grow' in the
