Question 1:

Q: Did you eat the cake ?
A: I have eaten the cake already.

*** wish to know if the question posted is in ' simple past tense', can my answer be in ' present perfect tense'?

Question 2:

Q:Did you eat the cake?
A:Yes,I already ate it.

*** should it be question in simple past & answer in simple past tense??
