Is this sentence correct in American English?'

There was a fight between him and me. Do we need to put "I" instead of "me"?

I can't answer for AmE but in BrE if you were saying that it would be acceptable. To write it then I is the correct choice. For informal conversation that is what I would say - however I'm British not American so be guided by them!

After the word "between" you need the object form of the pronoun, in correct speech or writing. "I" would be incorrect.
