Is this sentence correct and why?

I don't want to see him again, not for the 1000th time!

Top answer

Hi, I don't want to see him again, not for the 1000th time! It's OK if the speaker means that he has seen the person far too many times already. However, it sounds a bit odd.

I was referring to Usain Bolt. I have seen the 100 metres like a thousand of times.

Hi,
OK then.
But he's an elegant runner to watch many times.

Thanks

some people say it is a double negative though. Do you have any idea why?

Hi,
Probably because there are two 'not's in the sentence, but I wouldn't consider it a double negative.

Thiink of it as two clauses.
I don't want to see him again, and I don't want to see him for the 1000th. time
