Is this sentence correct?

'Once I broke down with that addiction of video games (or video game addiction?), man, it felt like finally getting unleased'

I wrote sth like this. Is it completely correct? Does the phrase 'breaking down with' collocate with 'addiction'?

I think you mean: Eventually, I broke with that (terrible) video-game addiction. Man, it felt like finally getting unleashed. However, I would use "break" instead of "break with" because the latter can indicate a break with tradition or some other normal activity/routine, whereas the former is more often used for contexts involving addictions/bad habits.

  • Moreover, I think "released" works better than "unleashed" in your sentence because "unleashed" could imply that you're about to embark on some wild, uncontrolled or even possibly violent spree!
  • Eventually, I broke that (terrible) video-game addiction.
