Is this sentence correct?

Since the rod is 3.5 meters in length, we can't make a packing of the rod in 3.3 meters length. However, we tried to reduce the size of packing as much as possible. The package size is now 3.55 meters.

A non-language point. If you have a package that is 2.5 metres square, the rod will fit in diagonally.
