Is this sentence correct?

I came across this sentence written on a signboard. It is a train company's ad to inform people about new projects:
'77 new trains mean getting home sooner.'

Is this correct? Am I wrong to say that it should be '77 new trains means getting home sooner' ?

I would have used "means." It's the overall concept, singular, not the many individual new trains, plural, that I see as the subject.
