is this sentence correct?

"The concussion to academic vocation as the change of academic field is so huge that university teachers are differentiated in profession and power."

The author wants to express that changes of academic field impact the academic vocation a lot and teachers are differentiated according to their positions in profession or administration.
But I am not sure about the use of "as...", it sounds a little weird to me. is that correct? how to explain this in grammar?

thanks a lot!
