Is this sentence correct?

An aircraft sitting on the runway at Kobe airport after the
pilot, a solo occupant, made a safe belly landing.

Isn't "sitting" here incorrect? Should it be "sat"??

Right, I meant that I think the writer intended to right "sole" but wrote "solo" instead.
