Is this sentence correct?

They have bought a vast number of products, ranging from pirated CDs and DVDs to fake designer clothing and accessories.

I was told that there are two mistakes in this sentence. I guess it should be "a vast variety" instead of "a vast number". I cannot find the other one. Please help.

The problem I have with your sentence is that I can not figure out if you mean a lot of things in total number or a lot of different kinds of things as in a great variety.

If I were to change the word "number" to the word "variety", then I would also change the word "vast" to "wide".
