is this sentence correct?

Hi every body

My name is Abolfazl Moradpoor

I'm an English learner and I'm studying thematic vocabulary2 by Betty Kirkpatrick

I have a little problem

Read this sentence:

Our use of pesticides and other chemicals has polluted both soil and water, and this pollution has proved to be toxic to many of the plants which are part of the habitat of many animals.

In my opinion underlined verb is incorrect and it must be has been proved to be but I'm not sure

And I need some professional opinions

I would be grateful to know others opinions

Thank Zenah for your answer

Our use of pesticides and other chemicals has polluted

Has is correct because our use is singular

And why do you use the before soil?

And why do you think others opinions is incorrect?

Double Thank

Others' would require an apostrophe.

Other opinions is correct

The opinions of others=others' opinions is also correct.

The use of the definite article "the" is often quite tricky. I don't find it wrong either way.
