Is this sentence correct?

I'm writing a essay about the relation between money and happiness.
I used the following sentence,but I am not sure if it is correct.
Could anyone tell me?

The key question is to what extend money can bring people happiness.

i feel that it is not correct.it is a question so can must be proceeded by the subject. for example

can I help you ?

but wait for other's comments because i am not a native speaker

Since this sentence is taken out of context, I do not know what you are trying to convey. I do not understand what "extend money" is, for instance. Hope this helps.

I would re-phrase it a bit: The key question is, to what extent money keeps people happy.

Please note the spelling of 'extent'.

I'm sorry for having made a spelling mistake. It should be "extent", not "extend".
