Is this sentence alright?

(a) "My phone alarms every 15 minutes, so I'll never get back to sleep."
I've been told that it's grammatically incorrect but I don't know how to correct it. Please help. Thank you.

Edit: A friend of mine said that the sentence should be this:
(b) "My phone's alarm rings every 15 minutes, so I'll never be able to get back to sleep."

Is (a) really incorrect and should be written as (b)?
Or is (a) somewhat acceptable?
Thank you everyone.
