Is this reasoning natural?

I was studying biology and didn't think that the fact was real and was questioning around in my head and I've got this:

If the traditional classification classified by colour, that would be messed up because every animal kingdoms will not be sorted properly. For instance, cockroaches are insects. They have got the same colour to a monkey but they are in different species. So classifying organisms by shape and pattern is the most appropriate method.
