Is this question and answer suitable? (EM. 8-14)

Hi teachers,
This is the context:
Thank you,I said to the postman.
That’s all right, sir, he said. She’s a strange lady, sir, isn’t she?
She’s ill, that’s all, I said quickly. We’re going to the hospital. Goodbye and thank you.

Is this question and answer suitable? The answer doesn't look very fine to me.
In view of the postman’s amazement, what did the doctor say?
He said that she was ill, that they were going to the hospital and thanked him.
