Is this punctuated correctly?

I saw this quote on the internet, and I believe it to be punctuated incorrectly.

"Don't tell anyone but sooner or later, I screw everything up."

I personally would punctuate it as such: "Don't tell anyone, but sooner or later I screw everything up."

Which one is correct?

Thanks.

Oh, I see that now. "Don't tell anyone but sooner or later" is being used as an introductory clause, isn't it?

No. The sentence has two main clauses, don’t tell anyone and but sooner or later I ***** everything up. In the second one sooner or later is an “introductory phrase”.
