Is this pronoun usage correct?

Is the following sentence correct?

Except for you and I, everyone drives a luxury car here.

I think the above sentence is correct, since you and I are both subject pronouns, as used here.

You wouldn't say "Except for I ...", so why would you say "Except for you and I ..."?
