Is this passage worded in the proper way?

As Drizzt and his four companions were traveling away from Icewind Dale, they were followed by Braelin Janquay, a drow scout of Bregan D'aerthe whom Jarlaxle had sent to the arctic region to watch for Drizzt. The friends soon realized that they were being followed and subdued Braelin, but once they learned the scout’s identity and mission, they allowed him to accompany them in journeying south through the Spine of the World. Barron stayed with the group until they reached the northern outskirts of Luskan, where the five companions met with Beniago. Beniago told Drizzt and his friends that Jarlaxle was no longer in Luskan and that they should avoid the city to prevent their dark elf enemies from discovering their whereabouts.
