Is this passage worded correctly?

Tarsan mercenaries closed around Urakan, and though he fought furiously, he was overwhelmed and brutally slain. Seeing this, an angry Egrin took command and reformed the center of the imperial line. The center held, but the Ergothians on both flanks were experiencing difficulties. The unhorsed warriors on the left had been beaten and were streaming away from the fight with nomads in pursuit, while on the right, the Tarsans and Ergothians battled back and forth, neither side gaining an advantage. The final outcome of the battle would be determined by the center, on which side could outlast the other. The Tarsan center was pinched in the middle, leaving two large blocks of troops joined by a thin line. Egrin sent waves of mounted attacks against this narrow line, and both men and horses piled up in heaps.
