Is this passage all worded correctly?

When the emperor’s message reached Hellman, the warlord refused to enter the fight until he deemed it the most opportune moment. Across the battlefield, the Thorngoth Sabers, under the command of Estan Tremond, finally entered the fortress. When the Ergothians made their way into the stronghold’s bottom depths, they discovered a hatchery containing hundreds of thousands of bakali eggs. Knowing that the eggs had to be destroyed for the sake of the empire, Tremond ordered that the posts, which formed the foundation of the fortress, be cut down even though it would result in the deaths of all his men.
