At his citadel, Magius told Huma how he had become a renegade wizard, but his explanation was interrupted by an attack by the evil warlord Crynus and a flight of chromatic dragons. Magius sent Huma and Kaz to safety, while he fought the dragons with his magic until he eventually fled the citadel himself. Magius later located Huma near Caergoth among a force of Ergothians under the command of Lord Guy Avondale, and used his magic to confuse the soldiers and lead his friend away.
