Is this paragraph correct?

Sometimes, we drop some characters while using the definite article. So you may find it difficult to understand native Arabic speakers, Not because you don't know the meaning of the words, but because we pronounce them differently than what you expect.

I tried to form this long and complex paragraph but I'm not sure if it's correct or not.

  1. is it okay to use the word not before a conjunction "Not because..."?

  2. Is it okay to use two conjunctions "but because"?

  3. Should I say "differently than" or "differently from" or something else?

3. Americans tend to use "than", and Brits, "to". "From" is usually safe.
