Is this one sentence natural?

Could you please tell me if this sentence is correct and natural? The underlined bit:

I hadn't seen him for as long as I knew him. I hadn't seen him in 10 years and I knew him between the ages of 5 and 15 which when we lost touch.

Yes, it feels natural to me.

But, it's one of those sentences that almost immediately begs the question: "...and how long was that?"

I like your sentence because it makes you stop and think for a second. It's not just a straightforward recitation of facts. I even find it somewhat poetic.
