Is this okay?

There are two levels of interpretation here, external and internal.

The film documents Manuel de Oliveira’s own view of the region through footage that resembles early documentary films, accompanied by music that serves as supplement to the documented images. Moreover, Manuel de Oliveira portrays an artist’s view of Porto, i.e., his impressions and his artistic representation of the city, through long shots of his aquarellas being painted accompanied by music evocative of the subject’s feelings and ideas as he paints them.

The lackness of dialogue and the documentary feel of the shots allows the interpretation of the film as being an analysis of the making of an art ouevre, that is, as being metalinguistic in a general sense, as it not only revolves around the construction of a painting but also brings the reflexion about the making of a film.

Top answer

A little pretentious but otherwise clear ("aquarellas" vs "water colors"). However, the second paragraph needs a little work. Here are my suggestions there.
