Is this natural? Heard a commentator say :

Worn down is used passively here? Is it an adjective? Doesn't the first sentence need a noun?

Is this not correct?

He started the season off very well, but he might have worn down as the season went on.

He started the season off very well, but he might have worn himself down as the season went on.

He started the season off very well, but he wore downas the season went on.
