Is this making sense?

Hi,

I'm translating a webpage from Delta. Is the underlined part making sense? seems wrong to me.

Winners will be notified within five days after the selection is made via email or other form of communication at Sponsor's discretion. All prizes will be awarded, provided they are claimed properly.

It seems to be saying that if you are a winner AND you claim your prize "properly" (whatever that means), you will receive your prize. Apparently, if you don't claim your prize "properly", you will not receive it. Sounds like a scam if you ask me.
