Is "this" makes the paragraph vague

Some believe that; integrating people with ID is not beneficial for them because they might not actively seek help outside the institution, and therefore, continue to be isolated while living within the larger society. This would present the people with ID as abnormal people according to the standards of the society. This further prevents the people with ID from conformity to the society

Thanks for the reply.

Some believe that integrating people with ID is not beneficial for them because they might not seek help outside the institution (can you elaborate why semi colon is not necessary) (that's what Word Office suggested) (I also know it's sometimes hard to please Word Office)

Oliver01In other words, is it too wordy now?
Yes. I have no intention of competing with Word Office: it is ridiculous. Just go with what I have given you.
