Is this long sentence of mine well-constructed?

Is this long sentence of mine well-constructed? If not, how can I improve it?

When you hug someone, a hormone called oxytocin is released into the blood stream, improving memory power along with reducing tension, stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, thus helping you strike a balance between activeness and calmness.
