Is this inverted?

Capitol Records declined to release the Beatles' first four British singles because, as a label executive informed Epstein (Brian Epstein), "we don't think the Beatles will do anything in this market.
(1) What is the subject of the bold part? Is it "Epstein" or "a label executive"?

(2) Is it OK to invert S and V in such a form?

A label executive is the subject of the clause and the word order can't be changed.
